Court records can now be searched by the general public, but why would you need to? If you intend to employ a person and place them within a position of authority or trust, you would feel a lot better doing this with the knowledge that that person has not been to prison for a major crime. It is only recently that the general public has been able to access court records, not too long ago it was only the highest officials who had access to such sensitive information. Your only option was to either strain your way through all of the red tape (which could take months), become a court official or get arrested.

Recent federal laws have now come into context with the twenty first century; the new mandates have made accessing court information a whole lot easier. Many countries still do not allow the searching of what they deem “protected information” but due to the changing times they will all probably follow suit. The disclosure of the information found within criminal records can be very beneficial to employers and employment agencies.

There are many people who think that the use of court records to gain information on an individual is wrong. Ex convicts or people with criminal records do not always divulged their backgrounds, if this were the case we would have no need to search databases, unfortunately not everyone is so quick to admit to their past misgivings.

These records are available to protect people from criminals, not to persecute the people who have already served their sentence so use these records with due diligence.

Some people commit dangerous crimes, some commit minor offenses. Either way it is down to the individual to carry out their own background check on people if they are going to leave them looking after something of value, a house, a car, your children.

If you feel that a background check is necessary then you can find out more information at - Court Records
